Bolton is known for its apple orchards, its bucolic country roads, its easy accessibility via Rte. 495, and as the host of the immensely popular Bolton Fair, held in early autumn. Bolton is growing, with a considerable amount of new construction, in the $500,000+ range, but there is a minimum lot size of 80,000 square feet (for most subdivisions), with a 200-foot frontage requirement, helping to ensure that this lovely town retains its rural character.

The town has jealously guarded its small-town, country quaintness, and is working hard to preserve it. Whatever the season, Harvard's rural byways are relaxing and beautiful, in an unplanned, just-natural sort of way. There is a considerable amount of open space under the jurisdiction of both the town and the federal government, and the panoramic views from Harvard's hills can be breathtaking on a clear day. New construction occurs in isolated pockets, but not nearly as much as in adjoining towns.
